23 YEARS AS AN
EXAMPLE FOR
INNOVATION

Since day one of our Business City, we have focused on giving our clients the best experience possible through a complete service of international quality.

Today we celebrate 23 years of history in the Costa Rican Real Estate market, positioning ourselves as an example of innovation, high technology, and sustainability.

Our advantages for installing a business have resulted in the arrival of more than 25 prestigious companies during this period, employing more than 10 thousand people and contributing to the country’s economy during the pandemic.

“Instead of disturbing us, we see the pandemic as a challenge that reinforced our vision of constant innovation and problem-solving culture”, said Jose Benavides, General Manager of AFZ.

Innovative projects that make us proud also came during the pandemic, like the opening of one of the most modern and sustainable buildings of Costa Rica and our first EV charging station. We also added a green vehicle fleet for our department of security and a bikeway that meet the most demanding international standards.

We ended 2021 with many acknowledgments and certificates that affirm our environmental, economic, and social commitments, such as the Blue Flag in the “Climate Change” category with three white stars and one silver, plus the COVID-19 Safety Compliant.

Further recognition came with the renewal of our Carbon Neutral condition, first obtained in 2017 when we turned into the first free zone administrator to earn it. We also retained the LEED, ISO 9001-2015, and ISO 14001 standards, focused on sustainable building.

Finally, we were recognized in 2021 with the “Sustainable Construction” award by the Costa Rican Construction Chamber, as well as the “Preventico” global award granted by INS, and an honorable mention in the AmCham awards for our COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

“These acknowledgements are proof of the passion of our work for Costa Rica, the community of Heredia, our workers and clients, but above all, guarantees our commitment to the environment and well-being for our people,” Benavides added.

For 2022 we have new projects, including the expansion of our social and environmental reach, with the goal of continuing to make a positive impact on society.

“We’re going to expand, invest more in sustainable mobility and clean energy; enhance our amenities and flexible spaces, as well as adding new technology,” Benavides mentioned.

In addition, we are currently working on an alliance with a university to give young people better job opportunities and the chance to develop new abilities demanded by the market.
